W. Michael Hipps, MD joined Texas Eye Institute in August of 2005 after completing his residency in ophthalmology at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. He is a graduate of the Medical College of Georgia and was raised in Atlanta, Georgia. He received his undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and spent 6 years in the biomedical field designing and producing minimally invasive surgical instruments for general, cardiovascular and plastic surgery. His experiences as an engineer led him to enter the medical field and eventually into ophthalmology.
Dr. Hipps is Board Certified and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Medical Association, the Texas Medical Association, the Harris County Medical Society and the Houston Ophthalmology Society.
He practices General Ophthalmology for all ages and has an interest in Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and uses the ReSTOR lens implants.
He is available for appointments at the Southwest, Southeast and Sugar Land clinics, as well as our clinic in Katy, Texas.
