Charles "Andy" Johnson, M.D, is a Board Certified ophthalmologist and is considered by his peers to be one of the Gulf Coast's top eye surgeons. He consistently uses the most innovative technology. Dr. Johnson was one of the first surgeons in the Houston area to perform LASIK Vision Correction in 1995. He originally performed research with the Excimer Laser in 1991. Currently, Dr. Johnson performs the new "bladeless" custom LASIK procedure. Dr. Johnson prides himself on his ability to achieve great results in even the most challenging LASIK vision correction cases. He believes in only providing the latest technology to his patients. He also performs the refractive lens exchange procedure using the "ReSTOR" accommodative IOL for patients who are good candidates and want correction of both their distance and near vision needs. Dr. Johnson performs the most advanced "sutureless" cataract surgery technique.
Dr. Johnson is a true product of our Texas Medical Center- he received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston. He completed his undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering at Rice University, where he graduated Cum Laude. Dr. Johnson completed his ophthalmology residency at Hermann Eye Center, where he was Chief Resident and selected Most Outstanding Surgical Resident. He is a current member of the American Medical Association, Texas Medical Association, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Johnson and his specialized staff are available for consultation regarding your refractive surgery needs. He also utilizes the latest techniques in cataract, glaucoma and corneal surgery. In addition, he has a therapeutic optometrist who works directly under his supervision, Dr. Quynh Le. She is available for routine eye exams.
